Winery & Vineyard UpdatePosted by admin in Untagged |
Fans and Followers of Horan Estates Winery:
Can you believe it has been an entire year since I last provided an update to our wine page? I apologize for the massive delay, but lots of good things have happened since my last writing. We were able to harvest all our grapes from the vineyard last fall, despite barely adequate heat units. We crushed enough Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cab Franc to fill 18 barrels of what we believe will end up being fantastic wine! Beth and Dennis were initiated into the winemaking process and thoroughly enjoyed the crushing, fermenting, pressing and barreling process. We have since sold out of our 2005 vintage of HVH Red Blend, CWM Syrah, and 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. We are presently well into sales on the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006 HVH Red Blend ( Double Gold Medal at the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition) and 2006 CWM Syrah. The 2006 CWM Syrah took  a gold medal at the first ever NCW Wine Awards held last fall. We also expect to be releasing a 2011 Viognier sometime this summer for the first time! Things at the vineyard are progressing in a much normal process due to warmer spring weather. I am planning on only making Syrah this this fall, plus what might end up being a very interesting HVH Red blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc. I have sold all the remaining grapes to outside winemakers. We will also be releasing our 2007 HVH Red Blend sometime by the end of summer or early fall.
Remember to visit our Tasting Room in Cashmere, and if we have time, we can take you through our now fuctional production facility in the warehouse next door! Thank you for your patronage over the past year, and I will do my best to keep the Website udated more often.
