After a two year absence from wine making and marketing, Horan Estates Winery is proud to announce the opening of their new tasting room in Cashmere, Washington, on September 17, 2010. Winemaker Doug McDougall has fully recovered from having major surgery (spinal fusion) on his back in September, 2008. During his recovery, both he and his wife Diana made a life altering decision to move to Redmond, WA to be closer to daughter Stephanie and grandchildren, Kailey and Karson. Doug has given up his year round job at Columbia Fruit, where he has been employed for 35 years, to work with growers in the field from April through October. The other 5 months of the year, they live at their home in Trilogy on Redmond Ridge.
Horan Estates Winery plans on developing a new business model that will emphasize the aggressive marketing of their award winning red wines from the 2005 vintage. Both the 2006 and 2007 vintages are in the bottle and will be released once they have been submitted for local and national judging. Doug will begin winemaking operations again with the 2011 vintage, which comes from the Westhill Vineyard he manages on the Royal slope in the Columbia Basin.
After a seven year partnership with our great friends Ross and Kelly Riedinger, Doug and Diana have purchased the Riedingers’ interest in the winery and will assume the role of sole ownership of Horan Estates Winery effective October 30, 2010. Through the years, the McDougalls and Riedingers have developed strong ties of family, mutual respect and friendship. Without their hard work and dedication to the business, Horan Estates Winery would not be the success that it is today. We know they will have fun crafting high quality hobby batches of wine for family and friends at their home on Wenatchee Heights.
